This is a direc­tory on the server that hosts the web­site. If you’re using free pub­lic host­ing offered by Word­press, you prob­a­bly do not have FTP access to the server and be able to install plu­gina. If you are pay­ing for host­ing, as I do, then you must use an FTP appli­ca­tion to man­age your direc­to­ries. Your host­ing ser­vice will give you the infor­ma­tion you need to know where the direc­tory is. There are a num­ber of good and free FTP appli­ca­tions avail­able for all oper­at­ing sys­tems. I most often use the FireFTP plu­gin for the Fire­Fox browser.
