Resources for Writers

Since I use WP so much, I thought I might add some tips here. This is NOT a primer on Wordpress. For that, you can go here.

I’m hav­ing issues with find­ing the ‘/wp-content/plugins/‘directory.

This is a direc­tory on the server that hosts the web­site. If you’re using free pub­lic host­ing offered by Word­press, you prob­a­bly do not have FTP access to the server and be able to install plu­gina. If you are pay­ing for host­ing, as I do, then you must use an FTP appli­ca­tion to man­age your direc­to­ries. Your host­ing ser­vice will give you the infor­ma­tion you need to know where the direc­tory is. There are a num­ber of good and free FTP appli­ca­tions avail­able for all oper­at­ing sys­tems. I most often use the FireFTP plu­gin for the Fire­Fox browser. Your host­ing ser­vice may also pro­vide you with a web-based appli­ca­tion to use.

This page is a collection of online resources available to writers. This is a work in progress. If you can improve this page - please do!

This free service makes those painful LONG website addresses into short ones, which in turn makes it a lot easier to insert web addresses into your emails, etc.

Also, if you for some reason don't want people to see your real website address, for example, if you use a free website, you can use your “TinyURL” instead.
